Thank you for taking an interest in applying to the Stephen Lloyd Awards!

Before you start, we highly recommend you read our application Guidelines page. It provides you with essential information as to who can or cannot apply, along with general guidance in relation to filling in the online application form below.

All questions can be viewed in advance by scrolling down this page. Please note - You may find it easier to go through the questions on this page in advance and save your answers in a separate document. When ready, return to this page to fill in and submit your application.

  • Part A - General Information

  • A 'leader' can be an individual founder, co-founder, or a leadership executive (e.g. CEO) or team responsible for running the organisation, delivering programmes and managing staff. Depending on the size of the organisation, they may be one in the same (e.g founder may also be a CEO)
  • How many trustees sit on your governing body or board (responsible for oversight and strategy, not day‑to‑day management). If you don’t have one, that's fine, just enter ‘0’.
  • Number of staff or people on the front line, delivering the day-to-day services.
  • If you could broadly categorise your project into a particular theme or area, what would it be? (e.g. education, arts and culture, community development, etc). If you feel your project's theme is not listed, or fits into more than one category, please specify the other themes in the box under the next question below for 'Other'
  • Website must begin with "http://" If you have any technical issues inserting your website here, please include your website address under "Social Media", directly below.

  • Part B - Project Proposal

  • What is the main aim of your project?
  • What is the current situation? Tell us what the problem is and describe what you already know. Where are we now in resolving the issue? Highlight the problem you are addressing – the reality of the current situation, facts and any statistics.
  • Describe the issue. What is the underlying problem? What is the reason why this issue requires action? What has changed and what is the impact? Who does it affect and why hasn't someone solved it yet? You must clearly highlight the complication and provide information on the opportunity.
  • How are you going to solve the problem? This will be your proposal for how to resolve the complication. This will be the substance of your main point. This is where you explain what you need to do, or have done already, and what needs to be done to address the complication.

  • Part C - Wider Support

  • 'Network of partners' refers to the collective donors and supporters listed on our partners page at www.stephenlloydawards.org/partners. Could your project benefit from any technical support such as business planning, legal advice, HR, IT, financial, mentoring, etc.

  • Part D - Financial Justification

  • Part E - Supporting Information

  • Part F (Optional) - EDI Monitoring

    To help us understand who applies to the Stephen Lloyd Awards and to ensure the programme is reaching diverse innovators, we invite you to complete the following EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) questions. This data will support more nuanced evaluations of the Awards’ effectiveness and refine our practices.

    Who do these questions relate to?
    We would like to learn more about the founder, or senior staff or leadership team members, who have lived experience of or a particular interest in the particular issue or area you are applying for.

    What is 'Lived Experience'?
    'Lived Experience' refers to the firsthand involvement, exposure, or personal connection someone has with an issue, challenge, or topic an organisation is trying to address. This can include:

    Direct personal experience: (e.g. someone who has grown up in care, experienced homelessness, or been in the criminal justice system).

    Past experience at any stage: (e.g. someone who was in care at some stage, even if later adopted).

    Indirect but meaningful experience: (e.g. a supporter, carer, or ally with deep, informed involvement with someone with an issue or challenge)

    Why we collect this information
    We are committed to ensuring the Stephen Lloyd Awards is accessible to people from all backgrounds. Collecting EDI data helps us understand who is applying, identify gaps in our reach, and strengthen our support and processes. It also informs our future impact reporting and programme development.

    How your data will be used
    Providing this information is entirely optional. Your responses are confidential, and will not be shared with the judging panel. The judging panel will not see any EDI data, it plays no role in the assessment of your application, and it will not be used in any way that affects the outcome of your application. We will only report EDI findings in aggregate form (e.g. totals or percentages), ensuring no individual can be identified. Data will be used solely to improve the fairness, inclusivity, and effectiveness of the Awards.

  • Please select the option that best describes the ethnic background of the founder, or senior staff or leadership team members, who have lived experience on the particular issue or area you are applying for.
  • The Equality Act 2010 defines disability as a physical or mental condition that has a substantial, long term impact on your daily activities. Does the founder, or any of the senior staff or leadership team members have a disability?
  • Please state the age of the founder, or senior staff or leadership team member who has lived experience on the particular issue or area you are applying for.
  • Which of the following best describes the occupation of the main income earner in the household when aged 14?
  • Do you, or the founder, or any of the senior staff or leadership team members have or had primary caring responsibilities for a child, disabled person, or older adult, at any point in life?
  • Please describe your connection to the issue or cause you are working on. We interpret ‘lived experience’ broadly, so you may include experiences as a beneficiary, potential beneficiary, carer, or any other meaningful personal or supportive involvement that informs your understanding of the issue.
